Composition of Thé Vert Menthe
Thé Vert Menthe is a classic, it is moreover the most drunk drink in the south of the Mediterranean. A true tradition in Morocco, mint green tea is consumed on all occasions.
The recipe for a good Thé Vert Menthe lies in the quality of its ingredients.
First of all, a very special green tea: Gunpowder tea. Originating from the province of Zhejiang, this Chinese green tea is made only from the first and second leaves of the tea tree. These leaves are harvested by hand, rolled into a ball and heated during the drying process.
Real peppermint leaves are then added, which, like the tea leaves, have been dried beforehand.
Green tea with peppermint is known for its multiple virtues: it contains many tannins which gives it an excellent relaxing power!
Mint tea is also known for its antioxidant content: it would help to stay healthy but also to facilitate digestion.
Find Thé Vert Menthe in Berlingo® bags or let yourself be tempted by our different formats of loose tea: refill 100g, luxury tin box 30g, luxury tin box 100g or bulk bag 1 kg and Magnum tea box 1kg.
Preparation tips
How do you prepare your Thé Vert Menthe so that it releases all the splendor of its aromas? It's easy:
We recommend that you let it steep for 3 minutes in simmering water between 85° and 90°C.
But we can never repeat it enough: the secret of a good tea is to enjoy it first! You can shorten this time if you prefer a lighter taste, or lengthen it for a more intense result.
It is ideal to be enjoyed in the afternoon. Plain or very sweet again, it's up to you!
If you wish to prepare it in the pure Moroccan tradition you will need :
Our Thé Vert Menthe, to which you can also add fresh mint leaves and sugar (traditionally we use a 2 kilogram sugar loaf that we break with a special copper hammer).
You also need a Moroccan tea set of course.
Put three spoons of green tea in the teapot and pour a glass of boiling water over it. Rotate the teapot and throw the water away. This will help to dethicken your tea. Add simmering water again and add a few sprigs of fresh mint, making sure to cut the stems into small pieces. Finally add three sugar cubes and let it steep for about 2 minutes.
Finally, to discover the secret of the preparation of the Moroccan mint tea, we invite you to discover the rest of the preparation on our blog.
You just have to enjoy your mint tea at any time of the day!
