Learn More About Iced Tea
What Are the Different Types of Teas for Iced Tea?
If tea is your favorite drink, you’ll love it just as much in its iced version. Technically, all teas (from black tea to fruity blends, not forgetting rooibos) can be prepared iced. However, it is usually made with flavored teas, such as our Peach Apricot blend or our organic Mint Green Tea. Ready to give it a try?
What Are the Best Teas to Refresh Yourself?
Unlike industrial drinks, all iced teas are refreshing—especially when enhanced with a slice of organic lemon or a lemon-ginger mix, for example.
How to Prepare Iced Tea?
Iced tea is a summer essential, the must-have drink that can be prepared in large quantities for the whole family—perfect as a refreshing beverage, with or without caffeine.
Preparing iced tea properly is an important step if you want to fully enjoy all its aromas and ingredients.
The first step is to choose your tea from our Iced Tea category. You will find a wide selection of teas and herbal infusions available either as loose leaf or in magnum tea bags.
Once you’ve made your choice, here are the steps to prepare your iced tea:
At Compagnie & Co, we recommend a purist method: hot infusion. Hot water infuses better than cold water and allows better control over steeping time. Be careful not to use water above 80°C, as it can damage the leaves and will take longer to cool. For one liter of water, add one heaping tablespoon of loose tea (or one 8g magnum tea bag) and let it steep for 2 to 3 minutes, depending on your taste. Let it cool, then place it in the refrigerator in a glass pitcher. Serve very cold with slices of lime in glasses filled with ice cubes, or with water at room temperature. Cheers!
If you prefer a cold brew method, the quantities remain the same—only the steeping time changes. Let it infuse in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 hours. Be careful not to forget it, as it may develop unpleasant bitterness.
For more originality, you can also create your own homemade cold infusion recipes by taking inspiration here and following all our tips and advice.
Optional Additions for Your Homemade Iced Tea
Optionally, you can enhance your homemade iced tea with agave syrup, fruit juice, cane sugar syrup, ginger, or simply sugar for sweeter recipes. It is best to prepare these “cocktails” just before serving, with ice cubes of course. Adding fresh fruit (or berries) with a mint leaf is another healthy alternative, and for something more original, the mint and cucumber combination works very well.
In iced tea preparation, accessories are also important. You can explore a wide range of accessories in our Tea Accessories category. You’ll find beautiful insulated bottles to keep your tea cold for hours in summer, elegant teapots, iced tea pitchers for your table, colorful tea infusers for a summer touch, and even measuring spoons for perfect dosing.
What Are the Benefits of Iced Tea?
Homemade iced tea is the ideal drink for the whole family. It contains no added sugar or preservatives, is highly refreshing, and still provides all the benefits of tea. Depending on the tea used, the caffeine content remains the same as in its hot version.
Since you can enhance this delicious drink with fresh fruits, peppermint, and other herbs, you can enjoy it while also doing something good for your body.
When to Drink Iced Tea?
A gentle, summery, and healthy drink, iced tea can be enjoyed at any time of the day and by everyone—from ages 7 to 77—making it ideal for hydration.
It’s best to prepare several liters of iced tea in advance, as it’s often most enjoyable at the end of a hot day. For optimal freshness, let it chill in the refrigerator for a few hours.
Perfect for children’s snack time, iced tea can also accompany aperitif cocktails—either plain or with a splash of rum for adults who enjoy stronger drinks.
As you can see, iced tea is suitable for every occasion and offers a healthier alternative, with less sugar and fewer preservatives than many industrial or fruit-based beverages.
