Rooibos or red tea
Rooibos…or Red Tea

But do you actually know what rooibos is? It’s often mistakenly called “red tea” — and you’ll quickly understand why!
Rooibos is a small shrub, about 1 meter tall, that grows exclusively in South Africa, in the Cederberg region. It is also the country’s national drink. “Rooibos” means “reddish bush” in Afrikaans — and for good reason: its leaves are naturally red!
In France, calling rooibos “red tea” is actually incorrect, because it simply isn’t tea.
Rooibos contains neither theine nor caffeine, so it can be enjoyed at any time of day, especially in the evening.
Traditionally, rooibos is made by fermenting the leaves, which gives it its characteristic reddish-brown color. If the leaves are not fermented, the infusion has a greener appearance, similar to green tea — this is known as green rooibos.
The perfect blend of rooibos and vanilla
Rooibos also differs from tea in its flavor, which is more herbal and plant-like. Its naturally smooth taste is widely appreciated. Combined with the comforting sweetness of vanilla, this indulgent and fragrant infusion offers a truly delightful moment.

The benefits of vanilla rooibos
Beyond its delicious taste, vanilla rooibos is packed with benefits.
Its high polyphenol content helps fight cellular aging. Rich in minerals, it supports healthy bones, hair, and skin. Its soothing properties can also help promote better sleep.
Thanks to its high flavonoid content, rooibos may help relieve gastrointestinal discomfort and support digestion. It can also soothe skin irritations and allergies such as eczema.
Finally, rooibos promotes iron absorption, making it especially recommended for pregnant women and those with anemia.
Preparation tips
How should you prepare this vanilla rooibos to fully release its aromas? It’s simple: we recommend steeping it for 3 minutes in water heated between 85 and 90°C.
But above all, the secret to a perfect infusion is to enjoy it your way. You can shorten the brewing time for a lighter taste, or extend it for a stronger, more intense result.
How to enjoy vanilla rooibos
As mentioned earlier, rooibos is naturally caffeine-free, so it can be enjoyed at any time of the day.
Pair it with a sweet treat in the afternoon for a comforting break.
If you’re feeling creative, you can also use it to make delicious smoothies.
