Learn more about lemon tea

What is black tea?

When harvested, tea leaves are naturally green. They turn brown through a drying process applied shortly after picking. This process is also referred to as tea oxidation. The leaves are dehydrated, become dark, and can be preserved for a very long time.

Black tea has long served as the base for blends such as Earl Grey, traditionally flavored with bergamot.

What are the benefits of lemon tea?

Tea comes from the Camellia Sinensis plant. Whether it is green, black, white, or Oolong, all teas are made from this same plant.

This remarkable plant is well known for producing infusions with numerous health benefits—you’ve probably heard about them before!

First of all, tea is an excellent antioxidant. Its high polyphenol content helps slow down cell aging, supports cardiovascular health, and boosts both metabolism and the immune system.

Not bad, right? But that’s not all.

Black tea is oxidized, which makes it richer in tannins, particularly theaflavins and thearubigins. Studies have shown that these compounds also act as powerful antioxidants against free radicals. The theine naturally present in tea makes it a stimulating drink that helps you stay energized throughout the day.

Unlike caffeine, which delivers a quick energy spike, theine is released more gradually. This helps you avoid the well-known “energy crash” a few hours after drinking coffee, allowing you to stay energized for longer. However, tea lovers often avoid consuming it late in the day to ensure a good night’s sleep.

So, what happens when you combine this beneficial drink with a citrus fruit known for its virtues?

You get lemon tea—a delicious ally for both wellness and weight management.

It’s no secret that citrus fruits are packed with benefits for the body. Thanks to the addition of lemon, lemon tea is also known for its detoxifying properties, helping to cleanse the body by eliminating toxins.

If you enjoy citrus-infused drinks, we recommend trying our Lemon Rooibos or our Lemon Maté for a refreshing and flavorful experience.

For green tea and spice lovers

For those who enjoy green tea and spices, you will love our Secret d’Aladin blend. It is available both as loose leaf in a metal tin and in tea bag format.

Does lemon tea help with weight loss?

Tea is known for its fat-burning properties—but on its own, it’s not enough!

Since tea contains no calories when consumed plain, drinking it regularly can be a great addition to a weight-loss routine. It’s therefore an excellent choice for those looking to slim down.

It’s the perfect drink to enjoy without guilt. You can also explore our selection of the finest flavored teas!

When combined with lemon, tea becomes a valuable ally for weight management. However, it’s important to note that it’s not a miracle solution. For best results, it should be consumed without added juice or sugar, and as part of a varied and balanced diet.

How to do a lemon detox?

For a lemon detox, we recommend starting your day with a cup of lemon tea.

It’s very simple to prepare:

We suggest infusing 2g of tea for 3 minutes in hot water (not boiling), ideally between 85°C and 90°C.

Preparing tea should remain a moment of pleasure, so feel free to adjust the infusion time according to your taste and preferences.

You can then add a few drops of fresh lemon juice or a bit of sugar if desired. However, milk is not recommended. Instead, you can add a slice of lemon for a decorative touch (preferably organic, as the peel is often used).

Depending on your taste, you can also add fresh mint leaves for extra freshness or fresh ginger for a more invigorating and detox effect.

When should you drink lemon tea?

You might be tempted to say: whenever you feel like it!

It’s perfect in the morning for an energizing boost, but also throughout the day or after a meal.

Lemon black tea is also ideal for making iced tea. Once the infusion has cooled, you can add fresh lemon juice, ground ginger, and a bit of sugar if desired. It’s a great way to experiment with different flavor combinations.

For those sensitive to theine, it’s best to avoid drinking it too late in the afternoon to prevent sleep disturbances.
