The origins of Chine Extra tea

In 1937, during the Paris World Fair, Compagnie & Co created Chine Extra. A delicious mix of natural black teas from China to honor the excellence of Chinese know-how.

The combination of 4 great tea for a perfect blind of Chinese teas :

Lapsang Souchong tea

Lapsang Souchong comes from the Fujian region in southwest China. Its particularity is that it reveals a delicate smoky taste. Its ancestral and artisanal process makes it so special: the black tea leaves follow a relatively long period of oxidation before being smoked and dried, first on wood, then rolled and oxidized, and finally dried again in bamboo baskets placed over a fire.

Generally Lapsang Souchong is smoked on spruce wood.

At Compagnie & Co we have chosen a tea smoked with pine roots to avoid distorting the natural taste of black tea leaves. When tasted, the first sip reveals an ashy note, then gradually reveals a generous woody flavor.

Lapsang Souchong tea is not processed, so it contains a high antioxidant content and offers many benefits!

Panyong tea

Panyong is a black tea that is not well known in Europe. The one we have selected comes from the province of Zhejiang which borders the China Sea. This province offers the finest teas in terms of quality. It has beautiful needle-like leaves which are harvested only in April. The infusion of Panyong reveals an orange color, its notes are powerful. In the mouth, it offers a woody, rather intense flavor that generally pleases coffee lovers, moreover as rich in theine it is the ideal tea for tonic mornings

Keemun tea

Keemun, also called Quimen, is another tea from China.

This tea is a black tea originating from the Quimen and Huangshan district in the Anhui province.

This brewed black tea has a clear and light liquor, but quite full-bodied. The nose reveals a very fruity flavor, subtly woody, some even find notes of chocolate.

Keemun has very little theine unlike other plain black teas. Did you know that this tea is served at Buckingham Palace for the Queen's birthday?

Grand Yunnan

The Grand Yunnan black tea comes from where the tea was born : the Yunnan province in China. This area benefits from ideal conditions for tea cultivation: medium to high altitude areas and a warm and humid climate. The tea leaf takes on a brown color dotted with buds. This black tea offers a bright red liquor. On the palate, it is both smooth and full-bodied with floral and slightly sweet notes.

Our tasting tips

How to prepare this Chine Extra tea so that it releases all the splendor of its aromas ?

It is very simple:

We advise you to steep 2 grams of tea for 3 minutes in simmering water between 85° and 90°C.

But the secret of a good tea is to enjoy it first! You can shorten this time if you prefer a lighter taste, or lengthen it for a more intense result.

They are conquered !
