Composition of Lapsang Souchong
Discover a real explosion of flavors in your mouth! Originating from China, this very special smoked tea is much talked about. It is said that it was the favorite tea of Sherlock Holmes and today it is a must in our house.
This quality black tea originated in the Fujian region of southwest China. What makes it so special is its ancestral and artisanal process: the black tea leaves undergo a relatively long period of oxidation before being smoked and dried, first on pine wood, then rolled and oxidized, and finally dried again in bamboo baskets placed over a pine fire.
If most of the Lapsang are smoked with spruce wood, this one is exposed on a fire of pine roots. This avoids distorting the natural taste of the black tea leaves. Let yourself be surprised by its unique flavors: Lapsang Souchong tea reveals ashy notes from the first sip, then gradually reveals a generous woody flavor.
Lapsang Souchong tea is not processed, so it contains a high antioxidant content and offers many benefits.
It is important to note that in recent years, the methods of smoking tea had to be reduced for health reasons.
Indeed, we noticed a too strong presence of carbonic gas on the tea leaves.
At Compagnie & Co, we have always refused to make fake Lapsang by adding a smoked flavour on the tea. We continue to buy from serious suppliers, but sometimes the "smoky taste" can be stronger or weaker depending on the arrival of the tea.
Preparation tips
How to prepare this pine root tea so that it releases all the splendor of its aromas? It's very simple:
We advise you to let it infuse for 3 minutes in a simmering water between 85° and 90°C. Once infused, it takes on a more or less dark caramel color.
But we can never repeat it enough: the secret of a good tea is to enjoy it first! You can shorten this time if you prefer a lighter taste, or lengthen it for a more intense result.
Our black smoked tea Lapsang Souchong is ideal for your mornings, perfect to accompany a sweet / salty brunch and can also be used as in the preparation of fish and vegetable puree.

Cela fait 50 ans que je consomme ce thé et la qualité est toujours aussi bonne. Le conditionnement au kilo est appréciable pour les grands consommateurs.
