How to prepare Darjeeling Himalaya tea?
India is the second largest tea producing country in the world!
And yes, its teas are now recognized worldwide for their excellence and quality.
And if we ask you the most famous Indian tea you tell us ....? Darjeeling of course!
How to prepare this delicate tea harvested in the heights of the Himalayas so that it reveals all its flavors?
We advise you to let 2 grams of tea infuse for 3 minutes in simmering water between 85°C and 90°C. Be careful, do not boil the water, it could burn the tea leaves.
But we can't repeat it enough: the secret of a good tea is to enjoy it first! If you prefer your tea stronger, you can let it steep longer. On the other hand, if you are looking for a more subtle result, you can reduce the brewing time.
Regardless of the brewing time, the liquor will always remain light and golden in color.
The history of Darjeeling Himalaya tea
The prestigious Darjeeling tea plantations are located at the foot of the Himalayas, this altitude provides an ideal climate for the camellia sinensis.
The first tea plantations in India appeared in 1856, especially around Darjeeling.
Darjeeling is a Protected Geographical Indication recognized by the European Union.
Thus, only a hundred or so gardens are authorized to produce this exceptional tea.
Speaking of exception, Darjeeling is often called the "Champagne of teas"! On the one hand for its teas which are of great quality. But also because, like champagne, its production is limited to this PGI.
Darjeeling is harvested several times a year. You may know the First Flush?
This spring harvest is the first of the season and is very popular with tea lovers. It usually produces fresh teas with exceptional herbal notes.
Other harvests usually take place in summer and autumn, with more full-bodied teas but always of great quality!
